These gardens were created in 1989
from a collection of 4,000 species and varieties
mainly composed of shrubs from the northern
hemisphere, but more particularly from the north
of China.
This botanical wealth has been displayed to its
best advantage by the creation of a harmonious
association of gardens with a variety of
atmospheres : |

 |
The rigour of the grand
central perspective, the pure inspiration of the
Abbey garden : "The Regular Garden".
A pleasant English-style design for the upper
part of the gardens, specially reserved for
collections: "The Garden of Islands"
For the lower part, a completely different
garden which is almost wild: "The Marsh
Garden"
7 hectares have been planted and these
collections have the particular characteristic
of being adapted to the very chalky soils of our
region (pH = 8.5) and to our climate (all these
plants went through the winter of 1986 where a
temperature of -28°C was recorded).
