This groups several species of the
Prunus family which includes such differently
shaped varieties as the plum tree, the wild
cherry, the peach tree, the almond tree and the
cherry tree.
You can appreciate the different habit of these:
the column shape of the Prunus "Amanogawa",
the horizontal habit of Prunus "Shirotae",
the weeping Prunus yedoensis "Ivensii",
etc. |

But this garden is
particularly distinguished when in flower, in
springtime which is quite a spectacular event
when the fragrance of the perfumed varieties
(Prunus mume, Prunus mahaleb
"Pendula") accompanies the fragile
beauty of the pink and white blossom.
