This is a collection of trees whose
foliage takes on strong tones in the autumn.
Some, like the plane tree "Mirkovec"
start to change colour as early as august.
The Japanese shape of the hornbeam Carpinus
japonica is particularly attractive.
Note the maple tree with hornbeam foliage (Acer
Carpinifolium) which illustrates an astonishing
resemblance between different species: maples
and hornbeams, which reminds us that the
identification of plants can not be done just by
looking at the leaves, but has to be done
according to Linnaeu's guidelines by observing
the flowers.
Do not leave this island without smelling the
flowers or the fruits of the Zanthoxylum. Yes!
You might well be surprised...
If you did not do so when you went in the Winter
Island, do not hesitate to pass through all the
islands in this sector.
